In 1993 the newspaper El Tiempo de Bogotá launched its regional newspapers Siete Días, aimed at medium-sized cities. Now, competition from more popular national papers and the incorporation into its readership of new social segments, have transformed the paper into something more general and less political. Its voice is no longer that of just an intellectual newspaper but also one with more presence across the population. The aim was to move towards being a more modern, complete and interesting newspaper.
